The death of George Floyd sparked worldwide discussions about race like never before. And now, a new film from Channel 4, Whisper and Cardiff Productions explore a different kind of conversation which happens in Black families throughout Britain, simply known as ‘The Talk’.

It’s a way of life for many communities, elders briefing their children on the reality of living in a society where their skin colour marks them out as ‘other’, usually ‘lesser’ and often a ‘threat’. This session explores the stories behind the film, how Black content can be produced authentically for mainstream audiences and how TV can play a vital role in educating the nation.
